The Vision

Bring Music to Life in the Heart of Kansas

Imagine soaring melodies and harmonies blooming in a space unlike any other—a room designed to feel like you’re underwater, with reverberation so stunning it turns sound into an experience. This hidden gem lies in the Sternberg Museum in Hays, Kansas, a place where prehistoric history meets modern creativity.

Hi, I’m Jeff Berkley, a producer, songwriter, and artist from San Diego, California. After years of traveling across the country, I discovered the Sternberg Museum and its unique, cave-like room with rounded walls and natural acoustics that took my breath away. I knew immediately I had to share this with the world.

I’m organizing a special music project featuring extraordinary acts known for their soaring melodies and intricate harmonies, and I can’t think of a better place to capture their music than this magical space.

Over the course of three days and three nights, each act will record live performances in the museum’s incredible environment. Local students and professors from Hays are joining us to help capture the magic on audio and video, creating professional-grade recordings and visual content for these artists to share with the world.

This project is about more than music—it’s about community, creativity, and showing what’s possible when we combine artistry with accessible technology. The recordings will not only amplify these artists’ careers but also shine a light on Hays and the Sternberg Museum as a destination for creative collaboration.

The Musicians

Julia Sage

Julia Sage is a self-taught Chilean musician and cantautora who has been writing, singing and channeling songs for as long as she can remember.

She started her professional career in her early teens, and has continued on her musical  journey to this day, playing mostly in San Diego, where she resides.  No matter if it's solo, duo, trio, or with her band "Julia Sage and The Bad Hombres", she will draw you in and keep you entertained during her entire performance.

Always trying to develop new skills and teaching herself new, unusual instruments, she keeps venturing into different melodic realms with a fearlessness that borders on obsessive insanity, which, ironically, keeps her sane in this crazy world.

Nominated for Best New Artist by the San Diego Music Awards, 2019.

Nominated for Best Folk Song by the San Diego Music Awards 2021, for her solo album "Midnight Songs in the Time of Corona Vol.1".

Nominated for Best Pop Song by the San Diego Music Awards 2022, for the single "I Shouldn't Stay” , from the album "Desnuda”.

Lindsay White

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll call your therapist. Two-time San Diego Music Award winner and Kerrville New Folk winner Lindsay White's undeniable talent has garnered recognition from American Songwriter Magazine, Telluride Bluegrass Festival (CO), Wildflower Arts & Music Festival (TX), and Atelier Artist in Residence (France). Her LP, "Lights Out," debuted at #2 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter charts, receiving accolades as the #1 Album of the Year by Global Texan Chronicles and an esteemed SDMA for Best Singer-Songwriter. Subsequent singles have also charted on iTunes and earned her additional nominations at the San Diego Music Awards, including a win for Best Folk/Acoustic Song in 2022. With a gift for earnest storytelling that has the power to heal hearts and tickle funny bones, Lindsay has shared billing with celebrated acts like The Lone Bellow, David Crosby, Steve Poltz, Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles), Flamy Grant, Justin Farren, Raining Jane featuring Jason Mraz, and more.

As a queer artist, accessibility advocate, and community builder, Lindsay has spoken, taught, or performed at countless equity and advocacy events, including San Diego Pride, San Diego Women's March, SheFest, Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls, Lady Brain Fest, YouthFirst Dallas, LinkedIn for Good, and a headlining performance at Moab Pride. She was featured on the cover of LGBT Weekly, highlighted in The Advocate and Curve Magazine, and AfterEllen.com recognized her as one of "15 Lesbian/Bi/Queer Musical Artists You Need to Know." She currently serves on Folk Alliance International's Cultural Equity Council and was recently named a Woman of Distinction by the San Diego Mayor's office. In partnership with Normal Heights United and SD Music Hall of Famer Jeff Berkley, Lindsay organizes a monthly original music series and nonprofit project called Songwriter Sanctuary San Diego, creating meaningful concerts and cultural events that uplift artists, foster inclusivity and spark social change.
